Bamako hosted the African Conference of Humanities under the theme: languages, cultures, history and territories

Bamako, the capital of Mali has hosted from June 28th to July 1st in Salam hotel the African Conference of Humanities (ACH) placed under the theme: “languages, cultures, history and territories”.

The opening ceremony was placed under the presidency of the President of the Republic Ibrahim Boubacar Keita who was represented by the Prime Minister Abdoulaye Drissa Maïga. He was accompanied by Madam the Minister of High Education and Scientific Research, Pr. Assétou Foune Migan, the former Malian Minister of Education who was the coordinator of the African Conference of Humanities Professor Adama Samassekou who was the delegate of the general direction of UNESCO, John Crowley and the co-president of the international community for the World Humanity Sciences Conference, Professor Jean Winand.

More than 250 eminent Africans and eminent persons from the Diaspora coming from 27 countries have taken part to this encounter that was declined in panels animated by eminent philosophers, sociologists and linguistics.

CERDOTOLA was represented at the higher level by the Executive Secretary of the Institution, Pr. Charles Binam Bikoi who was responsible for panel 3 on the theme: “Language, Culture and Education”.

In fact, during four days, the participants had intensive exchanges on several themes as “History and Territories”; “Migrations and Conflicts”; “Languages, Culture and Education” ;”African languages in the numeric age” ; “Democracy, institutional Crises and religious Radicalism” ; “The manuscripts of Timbuktu : between the search of the past and the revealing of an intellectually culture” ; “African Humanities, Africans universities and knowledge product” ; “Listening to the African humanities settlers” ; “ What partnership for the consecration of African humanities ? “ ; “ Let’s go to Liege : what is Africa’s contribution to the World Conference ?”

The closing ceremony was supervised by Professor Assétou Founé Samaké Migan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Mali.

This meeting had in goal to prepare the African participation at the World Humanities Conference will take place at Liege, in Belgic, from August 6th to 12th 2017.

From Sunday August 6th to Saturday 12th 2017, Liege will host the World Humanities Conference. It will be co-organized by UNESCO, the International Council of Philosophy and Human Sciences (ICPHS), the foundation “World Humanities Conference Liege 2017 “(represent by the district, the City and the University of Liege), and Liege Together, this convention will gather about 1800 world participants from scientific and politic circles, and also from production and communication, representatives of international organizations governmental and non-governmental.

Placed under the high patronage of His Majesty the King of the Belgians, the title of the conference will be:

  • World Humanities Conference. Challenges and Responsibilities for a Planet in Transition
  • Conférence Mondiale des Humanités. Défis et responsabilités pour une planète en transition
